The "I'm Tired Project"

I'm Tired Project

On view through January, 2017 in the gym/theatre lobby and the Kiosk.

During the first week of December, Rombout Middle School participated with the inspiring artists of The "I'm Tired" Project based out of the United Kingdom, and created by Paula Apkan and Harriet Evans. Since its inception in July 2015, The “I’m Tired” Project has effectively initiated a social debate around daily prejudices faced by people from all walks of life.  Over 600 students in 31 classrooms participated - every child at Rombout Middle School in all three grades.

We are thankful for local artist and parent Donna Mikkelsen, and project co-creator Paula Akpan both of whom worked with the children over the course of the 6 day residency; and for Principal Brian Soltish, for his encouragement.  The RMS PTO and the Beacon Arts and Education Foundation facilitated fundraising for the project.

The project was installed at Rombout Middle School in time for the recent LION KING JR performances, and is on view in the lobby of the gym/theatre as well as the kiosk through January for teachers and student as they go about their daily routines.  Parents will be able to view the installation at the next PTO meeting scheduled for January 5.
